ETAM addresses the clean energy and climate change thematic priorities of the Swiss Confederation in Ghana.

The Ghana pilot project has been designed as the first decentralized energy solution under the ETAM model and can serve both on-grid and off-grid households.
The first ETAM pilot in Ghana is expected to power 3,000 households in Ashalaja, generate more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, produce 35 million kWh of clean energy per year, and may avoid no less than 15,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year, given the current use of fossil fuels to power the electricity grid.
The project is expected to be built using PV solar rooftop systems with a capacity of 8Kv per household plus energy storage. The project will benefit from exceptional energy production given the high levels of irradiation in the area.
More than 10,000 people will directly benefit from the ETAM pilot. It will also create conditions for better education, life quality, and economic development and growth in Ashalaja. The project and technology have a useful life of 25 years and generate benefits during this lifetime.
INTELLSOL will manage the pilot project in collaboration with trusted partners that will provide permitting and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) services to the project. IntellSol is the project’s developer and EPC supervisor and will be responsible for operation, maintenance & management throughout the life of the project.

“Your project will solve most of the challenges we are currently facing in our communities because of the unstable power from the grid. We as a community were already contributing to buy some solar powered street lights to secure the community from thieves and reptiles”

“Our nurses and other health workers are struggling at our facilities because power outages and also because some of our clinics are not connected to electricity. At night they don’t attend to patients so you have to go somewhere else if you must”
